Tournament Team

A Competitive Experience

Our tournament teams offer a more competitive level of play than the recreational league. These teams travel to compete against other tournament teams, typically within 60 miles, with one possible overnight event.

Most teams participate in 4–6 weekend tournaments between May and August, providing players the opportunity to sharpen their skills and experience higher-level competition.

Objectives

Sportsmanship, skill development, and fun remain our core values—but tournament teams place a stronger emphasis on winning and competition compared to recreational league play.

Our goal is to prepare athletes in the De Pere and West De Pere school districts to become fundamentally sound players, ready to excel at the high school level.

Eligibility

Players must have at least one year of league experience.

Players must attend a public or private school in the De Pere or West De Pere School Districts and intend to enroll at De Pere or West De Pere High School.

All players must compete within their appropriate age division.

Playing outside an age division is only allowed in rare cases where a roster cannot be filled and must be approved by the Board of Directors.

Refund Policy

Volunteer Requirement

For our annual Fire on the Fox tournaments, each Tournament Team family must complete two shifts per player—one for field work and one for concessions. These are completed the opposite weekend your daughter plays. Parent volunteers are critical to making these events a success!

Fundraising

Every player helps support DGSA by selling raffle calendars—15 for tournament team players. Each ticket costs just $10, and proceeds go toward:

  • Park and facility improvements
  • Player development programs
  • Enhancing the overall experience for our athletes

Tryouts (14U) and Assessments (12U)

Evaluations are typically held in late July or early August, during the peak of the softball season. Each eligible player is assessed to help us place them on a team that best matches their skill level. Feedback from prior coaches and family surveys is also considered.

Forming teams is a complex process with many factors, including:

  • Total number of players from De Pere and West De Pere
  • Pitching and catching depth
  • Team size
  • Availability of experienced coaches

By completing registration, you are confirming your daughter’s commitment to join a DGSA team for the entire season. Please review all league details, schedules, and requirements before registering.
